On October 27th during set up we had some complications when rying to get the headphone connection to read into the voice recording system. Tyler called the help line to try and get it resolved and they helped to fix the problem. With Ty and I being new to the broadcasting and how everything works we didn’t realize that the mute switch was on the back of the machine where the headsets plug into. Silly mistake, but luckily we were early enough to the volleyball game and able to sort everything out. The Women’s Volleyball eam played against Lake Erie and beat them in three sets! The scores were 25-15, 25-19 and 25-25. This was the first conference win for the lady Dragons and was a well-executed game!

October 28th the Men and Women's soccer team faced off against their rival's Ashland University. Every year this is one of the biggest and most anticipated game for the men especially, and for the women it's always a close one! The women kickoffed at 1:00  fell short and lost 2-1. A heartbreaker for the ladies, fortunatly the men's team had a better day. They defeated Ashland 3-1 which is huge! Scoring one goal in the first half following 2 more within the first 15 minutes of the second half to seal the win for the Dragons. The crowd was huge for this game as it is one of the most intense games of the season for the men.The atmosphere was a great one to be apart of with a halftime show to get the crowd involded. It was a big win for the men as they tend to fight for the GLIAC Championship with Ashland most years!

Men and Women's soccer team was at it again playing against Lake Erie University on October 30th. Both teams came out with the win. Women won 2-0 while the men squeaked in one goal to take the W 1-0.

On October 9th the Women’s soccer team faced off against one of
their toughest competitors in their region Northern Michigan. The kickoff was at 3:00pm and the girls were pumped for the game. I spoke to head Coach Paula about the Dragons in their preparation for the game and she was confident that the girls were going to come out strong. "The girls trained hard this week to prepare for this game, they know this is a good team and it will be challenging to beat them but I believe the girls have it in them to do what they have to do to come out with the win". Unfortunately the girls lost 2-5. Northern Michigan’s defense shut the ladies down only allowing 2 goals all game.

On October 13th I did my first double game of the Men’s and Women’s soccer team. The bleachers were full for both games along with a large amount of chairs along the sidelines. Both teams played Ohio Dominican University a team that is new to the conference. The Women’s team lost 0-2 but the men ended in a tie 2-2 going into double overtime! It was one of the most exciting soccer games I have ever watched, a very evenly matched game with a lot of action going both ways for both teams. The coaches were very vocal for both teams along with the stands.
Each team receives a point after the tie.

The Women’s Volleyball team faced off against the University of Findlay on October 21st. Some huge digs by
Lindsay Heller kept the dragons in the game but it was not enough. The ladies were defeated 25-15, 29-27, 24-26, 18-25. All very close games but it just wasn’t enough to get the Dragons a win.

October 5th the Men's Soccer team faced the University of Findlay. Before the game I showed up 30 minutes early to help carry equipment over from Tyler’s truck and up to the press box at the soccer field. After setting up the equipment I sat down and study the program given to me to try and learn the players for both teams. I also began goggling terms for soccer since I only know the basics of the game.

This being my first Soccer game and not playing the sport since I was 7 years old I defiantly made some
mistakes. The one that stuck out to everyone in the press box listening was referring to mid field as mid court. I knew I said it wrong right as it came out of my mouth. Commentating alongside with me was Tyler Blake who usually does the video aspect of the game, but due to the fact that Joe cannot always make it, someone is to generally stand in for him to make the games easier to talk about. There is a lot more to talk about when having another person commentate with you since you are able to talk to them and discuss different circumstances that
occur during the game. The Dragons took a tough loss today losing to Findlay 0-1.

On October 7th I got to do the Women's Soccer Team for the first time! The women came out strong defeating the University of Findlay 2-1. It was a gorgeous day for the game with a lot of fans out to support the Dragons! Co-commintating with me this game was my roomate Amanda Temple. She played competitive soccer until 12th grade so it was good to have her by myside knowing a little more about the game then I did. She taught me some new terms throughout the game so it was a good learning experience for me to bring her out!

October 8th the men's soccrer team played Cedarville. This was a non conference game for the Dragons in hope to boost their nation ranking. The Dragons played a tough game and just couldnt seem to put things togeather to score a goal. Cedarville defeated the Dragons 0-2.
