My Autobiography
My name is Meagan Elizabeth Baird. I was born on April 10th1990 and raised by my mother Janice, father Rick and older brother Matt. I have a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Jake and he is 12 years old. Growing up I played hockey, softball, basketball volleyball, field hockey, soccer and golf. I attend grade school at Lester. B. Pearson and then attended J Clarke Richardson for high school. In high school I played the majority of those sports but also played competitive hockey and softball outside of school where I traveled all over North America. Once I was in 11th grade I was then told to choose which sport I would like to continue in University so I choose softball. I then earned a scholarship to Tiffin University in Tiffin Ohio to play softball. I am studying Sports Management and Minoring in Marketing. Every summer I worked for baseball/ softball camps for former Blue Jays players. The summer of 2009 I made my provincial team (Ontario) for softball and competed in the Canadian Summer Games which is a lot like the Olympics but only Canadian teams compete. Two years later in the summer of 2012 I made my number one dream come true and made the Canadian National Softball Team which competed internationally. My entire life I wanted to make the Olympic team but unfortunately Softball was removed from the Olympics. The national team is still around and competes in different tournaments worldwide. Playing for them that summer we placed 4th in the Canadian Open and 3rd in the World Championships. It was an experience I will never forget and hope to pursue for as long as I can. Currently I have finished my 4th semester
of playing softball at Tiffin University, and now playing for the golf team. I have one year left and hope to get a job within the sports industry once I graduate.
Career Objective
When looking at an ideal career that I beleive I will love in the future it will have to involve sports. My dream job would be working for the Toronto Maple Leafs withiin the sales or marketing department. It is located downtown Toronto which is a place I dream about living in one day. This would definatly be my number one choice but I would not be opposed to working for a different sports team. Sales is what I would choose first and marketing would be my back up. The reason I choose sales is because I like to interact with others, travel, and learn and work with new things. In a sales job you get to do and expereince different places, people and products which I beleive keeps the job interesting. When it comes to marketing I am a very creative person and enjoy coming up with new ideas to apply to promotions, logos and commercial aspects within a job. As long as I am able to get a job within the sports industry I know I will enjoy it because this is what I am passionate about, read, watch, live and breath on a daily basis.
